1 block extra-firm tofu (pressed and drained)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Hot Honey BBQ Sauce:
8oz
Taco Assembly:
4-6 soft flour or corn tortillas
2 ripe pears (thinly sliced)
1 cup shredded lettuce (romaine or butter lettuce work well)
⅓ cup roasted peanuts (lightly crushed for texture)
Optional toppings: sliced avocado, pickled onions, fresh cilantro
Instructions
Prepare the Tofu:
Cut the tofu into small cubes or strips.
In a bowl, toss the tofu with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and sauté the tofu for 6-8 minutes until golden and crispy on the outside. Set aside.
Toast the Peanuts (Optional):
If desired, toast the peanuts in a dry pan over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Assemble the Tacos:
Warm the tortillas in a dry pan or microwave.
Add a layer of shredded lettuce to each tortilla.
Top with BBQ tofu, a few pear slices, and a handful of crushed peanuts.
Drizzle extra Hot Honey BBQ Sauce over the top for extra flavor.
Serve and Enjoy:
Garnish with optional toppings like avocado, pickled onions, or cilantro for added freshness.
The roasted peanuts add a perfect crunch and nutty flavor, complementing the sweet pear and smoky tofu. Enjoy your flavorful, texture-rich tacos!
